Sapphire FUE Hair Transplant in Türkiye
Fine sapphire blades for carefully shaped recipient channels and a gentle healing course.
What Sapphire FUE is
Sapphire FUE is a variation of Follicular Unit Extraction in which the recipient channels are opened with fine blades made of synthetic sapphire rather than conventional steel blades. Extraction of the grafts from the donor area is carried out in the usual way, with a micro-punch.
Sapphire is a very hard, smooth material, which allows blades to be made extremely thin with a V-shaped tip. The choice of blade is one part of the technique and does not replace planning, hairline design or surgical experience.
How the technique works
After local anaesthesia, grafts are harvested from the donor zone and stored. The practitioner then opens small channels in the recipient area with the sapphire blades, following a design that considers direction, angle and spacing so that the transplanted hair blends with existing hair.
The grafts are placed into these channels with fine forceps. Because sapphire blades can be produced very narrow, channels may be smaller, which some specialists consider helpful for denser placement and for a more comfortable healing process, although this depends on the individual.
- Harvesting grafts with a micro-punch
- Opening channels with sapphire blades
- Placing grafts with fine forceps
- Directing hair along the natural growth pattern
Who is a suitable candidate
The suitability criteria are largely the same as for other FUE-based techniques. Adults with a reasonably stable pattern of hair loss and adequate healthy donor hair are the usual candidates, once a specialist has examined the scalp and discussed goals.
Sapphire blades may be considered when a finer channel design is desired, for example along the hairline or in areas of existing hair, but they are not required for a good result in every case.
- Stable pattern of hair loss
- Adequate donor density
- No active scalp disease or untreated infection
- Good general health and realistic expectations
Procedure day, recovery and results timeline
The operation is usually performed in a single session on an outpatient basis. You can generally leave the clinic the same day, with a headband or dressing for the donor area in some cases, and instructions for the first washes.
Light crusting and redness commonly settle within about one to two weeks. Shedding of transplanted hairs often occurs between the second and third month, with new growth appearing from roughly the fourth month. Maturation can continue for 12 to 18 months before the final appearance is judged.
Risks and important considerations
As with every hair transplant, temporary swelling, itching, numbness, folliculitis and shock loss are possible. Less commonly, infection, scarring, poor graft survival or uneven growth may occur. Existing hair may continue to thin.
Research does not clearly show that sapphire blades guarantee better outcomes than steel blades in all cases, so be careful with marketing claims. Ask what blade sizes are used, who creates the channels and what aftercare and follow-up are included.
