FUE Hair Transplant in Türkiye
Individually harvested follicular units, placed with attention to direction, density and natural design.
What FUE hair transplant is
Follicular Unit Extraction, usually shortened to FUE, is a hair restoration technique in which individual follicular units are harvested one by one from a donor area, most often the back and sides of the scalp, and placed into thinning or bald areas. Hair from the donor zone is typically more resistant to the hormonal process behind common pattern hair loss, which is why it is chosen for transplantation.
Because no strip of scalp is removed, the technique leaves tiny, scattered marks rather than a single linear scar. FUE is a surgical procedure and should be carried out by a trained medical team in a sterile clinical setting.
How the technique works
After the donor area is trimmed and numbed with local anaesthesia, a small circular micro-punch, often between roughly 0.7 and 1.0 mm in diameter, is used to separate each graft from the surrounding tissue. The grafts are sorted by the number of hairs they contain and kept in a holding solution until implantation.
The recipient area is then prepared with fine incisions whose angle, direction and density are planned to follow your natural growth pattern. Single-hair grafts are usually used along the hairline for a softer appearance, with multi-hair grafts placed behind it for density.
- Local anaesthesia of donor and recipient areas
- Extraction of grafts with a micro-punch
- Sorting and storage of grafts
- Creation of recipient sites
- Placement of grafts according to the design
Who is a suitable candidate
FUE is generally considered for adults whose hair loss pattern has become reasonably stable and who have enough healthy donor hair. A specialist evaluation is essential, because the pattern of loss, scalp laxity, hair calibre and expectations all influence what can realistically be achieved.
Some conditions may make the procedure less appropriate or require further assessment before any decision is made.
- Very limited donor density or widespread, rapidly progressing loss
- Active scalp disease or untreated infection
- Uncontrolled general health conditions or blood-clotting disorders
- Unrealistic expectations about coverage or density
Procedure day, recovery and results timeline
The procedure is usually completed in a single session lasting several hours, with breaks, and you can normally walk out the same day. You will receive instructions for washing, sleeping position and activity, which are important to follow closely.
Small scabs commonly form and fall away within roughly the first one to two weeks. The transplanted hairs often shed in the following weeks, and new growth typically begins around the third to fourth month. Visible improvement tends to build gradually, and final results are usually assessed at around 12 to 18 months.
Risks and important considerations
Temporary swelling, redness, itching and numbness are common. Less frequent concerns include infection, folliculitis, visible scarring in the donor area, uneven growth or lower-than-expected graft survival. Native hair may continue to thin, so some people need medical treatment or a later session.
Be cautious of offers that promise a fixed number of grafts or guaranteed outcomes without examining you. Ask who performs the extraction and implantation, and what follow-up is provided after you return home.
