Facelift and Neck Lift in Türkiye: Natural-Looking Rejuvenation

Addressing sagging tissue in the lower face and neck with a refined, balanced approach.

What a facelift and neck lift are

A facelift, or rhytidectomy, addresses visible signs of ageing in the lower face and jawline, such as jowls and loosening of the cheeks. A neck lift treats banding, excess skin and fat beneath the chin.

They are often performed together because the face and neck age as a continuous unit. The goal is a natural, rested appearance rather than a pulled or altered look.

Different techniques exist, ranging from limited lifts with shorter scars to deeper, longer-lasting methods. The most suitable approach depends on the degree of sagging, the quality of the skin and the recovery time that you are comfortable with.

How the technique works

Incisions are generally placed in the hairline near the temples, around the ear and into the scalp behind it, so that scars are well hidden. The surgeon lifts and repositions the deeper supporting layer of the face, often called the SMAS, then redrapes the skin and removes any excess.

For the neck, a small incision under the chin may be used to tighten muscle and remove fat. Fat grafting or eyelid surgery are sometimes added, depending on goals.

  • Incisions concealed in hairline and around the ear
  • Repositioning of deeper supportive tissue
  • Neck tightening and fat removal where needed
  • Optional complementary procedures

Who is a suitable candidate

Candidates are typically in good health with early to moderate sagging, reasonably elastic skin and a clear understanding of what surgery can achieve. Many are in their forties to seventies.

Smoking, uncontrolled blood pressure and some conditions affecting healing can increase risk. A facelift does not stop the ageing process or treat surface skin quality, such as fine lines or pigmentation. A specialist evaluation is necessary to plan appropriately.

Procedure day, recovery and results timeline

The surgery is usually done under general anaesthesia, with a light compression bandage applied afterwards. Swelling, bruising, tightness and some numbness are expected, and are managed with medication and head elevation.

Most people feel comfortable in company after two to three weeks, although subtle swelling can persist for a few months. The result continues to refine over several months as tissues settle and scars mature.

Keeping the head elevated, avoiding bending and heavy lifting, and protecting the scars from the sun are standard recommendations during the early weeks.

Risks and important considerations

Risks include bleeding or haematoma, infection, visible or widened scars, temporary or, rarely, lasting nerve weakness, hair loss near incisions, skin healing problems and asymmetry. Smokers face a higher risk of skin complications.

Allow enough time in Türkiye for early review and suture removal, and follow guidance on avoiding strenuous activity and sun exposure. Discuss realistic expectations and the longevity of results with your surgeon beforehand.

Frequently asked questions

How long do facelift results last?
Results typically last for years, but ageing continues. The duration varies with skin quality, lifestyle and genetics.
Will I look unnatural or overly tight?
A well-planned facelift aims to restore a natural contour. Open discussion with your surgeon about goals helps to avoid this.
Where are the scars placed?
Mostly within the hairline and in the natural folds around the ear, where they usually fade into inconspicuous lines.

Results and recovery times vary from person to person. Every treatment starts with a medical evaluation by a licensed specialist.
